The newly built station for the Senne Fire Brigade replaced the former station, which dated from 1953 and stood on the same site, but had long since failed to meet modern technical requirements. It was demolished and replaced by the new building.
Directly adjacent to the city’s largest volunteer fire brigade is the South Fire and Rescue Station of the Bielefeld Professional Fire Service.
From the outset, the station was planned not only as the base for the Bielefeld-Senne Fire Brigade, but also as an additional training centre for the Bielefeld Fire Service. Throughout the year, numerous modules of basic training for new members of the Volunteer Fire Brigade take place here – a concept that significantly influenced the design of the rooms even during the planning phase.
In addition to the seven parking spaces for emergency vehicles in the single-storey hall, the approximately 50 active firefighters now have access to significantly more spacious, modern communal and functional areas, enabling the station to cater equally well for operational duties and training.
The total construction costs amounted to around 1.6 million euros.
Modersohn was involved in the construction of the new fire station, supplying scaffolding anchors and single bracket anchors.
