Spacers for facades

Spacer for facades is a term from the light facade construction. The decisive factor for a so-called double skin façade is the existing air layer and/or insulation material layer behind the facade cladding. In the case of the relatively light cladding elements, the spacer primarily acts as a holding anchor to ensure stability under wind and snow loads and to ensure that installation is easy to adjust and simple. These fastening systems are increasingly also made of stainless steel and not of aluminum as in the past. The reason for this is the more favourable thermal conductivity of stainless austenitic or duplex steels. While aluminum is used with a λ (Lambda value [W/m*K]) of 150, we have a λ of 15 for the stainless steel grades. For comparison ferritic steel (normal steel) must be used with λ = 45.

MODERSOHN specializes in processing stainless duplex steels (lean duplex steels) for such spacers and can also significantly reduce thermal conductivity cross sections due to the high strength of these materials. Thus further cost savings are possible.
