MAG-welding

Metal active gas welding (MAG welding) is the most important welding process at MODERSOHN and is used for most of the fastening parts in the building industry. The metal wire (welding filler material) is fed from the reel to the welding gun by means of a wire feed unit. The wire emerging from the front of the welding gun is supplied with high voltage by a power source, which creates an arc when the tip of the wire comes into contact with the surface of the workpiece. The wire, which melts away due to the conductive resistance, can be applied relatively cleanly and evenly as a weld seam. To prevent such a welding wire melt from reacting immediately with oxygen and thus oxidising, a so-called shielding gas, such as argon or an argon-CO2 mixture, is also blown onto the welding process at the tip of the gun.
MODERSOHN uses welding wires with diameters of 0.8 - 1.0 - 1.2 mm.
