Detailview for term

Facade suspension

The term facade suspension is colloquially used as a collective term for a large number of different facade fixing systems. From a technical point of view, the term can be interpreted - in contrast to supporting, uprighting, bracing or intercepting on brackets - as meaning that it is a fixing system that transfers the forces of the facade to the side or further up into the offset ground. Such fixing systems very often work with tie rods in the form of threaded rods or flat steel, which are adjustable and articulated to transfer the forces diagonally upwards via dowels or anchor rails into the load-bearing rear wall.
As an example, MODERSOHN manufactures the MOSO® panel hanger for precast concrete facades, with a very slim and easily adjustable construction made of stainless steel. Such a suspended access anchor system consists of the so-called installation part for concreting into the precast concrete part to be suspended, the in-situ concrete fastening (this can be a dowel or an anchor rail), and the installation part connecting both, which usually consists of a threaded rod with head part and nuts.

In the lower and lateral area of the precast concrete part, pressure screws and possibly toothed retaining anchors are still required for the exact positioning and fixing of the precast concrete slab in relation to the wall surface of the load-bearing rear wall. Such a facade suspension with tension rod can take loads of precast concrete elements with more than 50 kN.
The civil engineers and technicians of the Modersohn company plan the optimum facade suspensions for heavy-duty facades.
