Project description

The headquarters of the Bremer Landesbank, now Nord/LB, is a modern bank building in the middle of Bremen's historic old town. With its representative brick façade, a reference to Hanseatic brick expressionism, it stands out clearly from the grid façades that dominate city centres today and represents regional identity. The multi-faceted façade with its diverse curvatures, vertical and horizontal lines, columns and cornices consists of 64 different shaped bricks that were custom-designed and produced. This results in a uniform wave form in the overall picture, which creates depth and three-dimensionality as well as a great liveliness.

This architectural vision was developed by Caruso St. John Architects under the project management of Marco Caviezel.

In stylistic contrast, the modern, oval inner courtyard with concrete façade measures 17 x 34 metres and ensures that plenty of natural light enters the office spaces.

For both the façade of the modern courtyard and the classic brick façade, MODERSOHN supplied the necessary Stainless steel and duplex steel Fastening elements. In addition, special Welded constructions were made according to customer drawings.
