MOSOTHERM - Thermal separation for façade systems

MOSOTHERM is the first pressure-transmitting insulation system with general building authority approval!

Simply unbeatable for the reduction of thermal bridges in a team! This means our slim façade fixings made of Lean Duplex steel in combination with the load-bearing and stackable 5 or 10 mm thick insulation boards made of fibreglass-reinforced plastic.

Energy efficiency is more than ever a topic for façade planners and architects in the field of sustainable and resource-saving construction. For this reason, we are increasingly being asked for a solution with regard to metallic fixings, which form the risk of thermal bridges in double-shell wall constructions.

We have succeeded in developing an insulating material that both reduces thermal bridges and has essential characteristics such as:

  • compressive strength
  • creep strength
  • durability
  • stackability

Product information

The MOSOTHERM insulating element is a glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP), which contains a high proportion of hollow glass beads in the resin. The material is creep and break resistant in a temperature range of +80°C to -40°C. The determined material density is 1,250 kg/m3. Tests have shown a water absorption capacity of less than 5.0 %.

In the field of façade fixings, the thermal conductivity value is particularly important. Depending on the thickness of the tiles, it is approx. 0.14 - 0.16 W/mK, a value comparable to that of lightweight vertically perforated bricks.

The insulation boards are available from us in the following formats:

  •     4000/520/10 mm
  •     4000/520/5 mm

We also produce individual cuts and drillings at short notice on customer request.

The slim design of the MODERSOHN® brackets also makes it possible, especially with higher loads, to significantly reduce the χ value (point-related heat transfer coefficient) by using Lean Duplex steel.

Use and scope of application

The MOSOTHERM insulation element is to be used between the substrate and the attachment part, e.g. the MOSO® support anchor, in conjunction with dowels according to the following table.
The conditions of use of the respective ETAs must be observed:

The MOSOTHERM insulation element may only be used with dowels of nominal diameters 10 mm, 12 mm and 16 mm in reinforced and unreinforced normal concrete of strength classes C20/25 to C50/60 according to EN 206:2000 under static and quasi-static loads, provided that no requirements regarding fire resistance duration are placed on the overall construction including the pressure-transmitting insulation material.
The MOSOTHERM insulation system may only be installed in buildings under the conditions of dry interiors and in buildings under protected weather conditions without permanent exposure to moisture. A permanent moisture exists if the insulation element is damp for at least 20 days without interruption.
