MOSO® perforated strip masonry reinforcement has been examined by the Institute of Integral Building Construction, Minden: "All tests resulted in a breaking load value at least
3 times higher compared to the mathematical working load.
Ribbed bars produced no larger breaking loads than the test specimens reinforced with the corresponding MOSO® perforated strip masonry reinforcement.
The first crack in ribbed bar BST 500 S reinforced test specimens occurred at approximately 60% of the total breaking load, while with MOSO® perforated strip masonry reinforcement the first crack appeared only at the ultimate limit state. This is due to the good "anchoring" of the perforated strip with the mortar (this oozes through the holes when the tape is inserted in the mortar)." *

ADVANTAGES
- The MOSO® perforated strip masonry reinforcement has clear advantages in the distribution and transfer of force thanks to the enclosure of mortar plugs around the perforations. By contrast, ribbed bars press the mortar apart with the ribs and produce an unfavorable wedge-shape.
- The MOSO® perforated strip masonry reinforcement wholly fulfills its function and distributes the expansion of the wall shell into many small, yet invisible gaps, whereas the use of ribbed bars acc. to 8.6 kN/m results in large visible cracks.
- This proves that ribbed bars in mortar provide significantly less clawing, and therefore, sustainability, than MOSO® perforated strip masonry reinforcement.
