The benefits of duplex stainless steels
... with respect to comparable austenitic steels:
- Much higher resistance, yield strength Rp0.2 over 400 N / mm², also welded
- More price stability due to lower alloy surcharges
- Lower price compared to the corrosion technical equivalent austenitic grades
- Low thermal expansion
- More favorable fatigue strength, thus better stability under dynamic loads
- Higher static deductible E-modulus values, in accordance with DIBT approval
- Better resistance to chloride and hydrogen-induced stress corrosion cracking
- Lean duplex stainless varieties with better high-temperature resistance, since no decrease in the yield strength and, due to the lower or missing Mo content, significantly lower embrittlement tendency
